The Initiative

The Wornall Bridge was built as the "Gateway to the Plaza". With the completion of its renovation construction (following a $x million investment by the city), we have a rare moment to reestablish one of the Plaza District's iconic landmarks.

The vision is simple: a bridge that feels cared for. Lush with flowers. Clean. Well-lit. Safe. A place that signals arrival into a district that takes pride in itself. When this space looks exceptional, it elevates everything around it.

But its the ongoing care which makes such a space; flowers, landscaping, seasonal upkeep, lighting, snow response, trash removal, and day-to-day attention. Without proper stewardship, the bridge could quickly fall short of its potential.

The Plaza District Council is stepping up to be that steward for the community.

The PDC's Role

The Plaza District Council provides the ongoing beautification and maintenance needed to keep the Wornall Bridge attractive, clean, and welcoming.

This includes coordinating with contractors, managing seasonal plantings, monitoring conditions, and raising the funds needed to maintain a consistent standard of care.

This is an ongoing stewardship commitment.

The bridge is the City’s infrastructure, but the beautification effort is ours to sustain through the support we receive from organizations and individuals in the community.
