Cascade Hotel | March 27 | 3:00 Networking | 3:45 Program, Reception to Follow
We have established the Plaza District Council to coordinate the public and private resources needed to sustain and steward our Plaza District as a cultural center of Kansas City. Change is coming fast including new ownership of the Plaza Shopping Center, three new KC Streetcar stops, and UMKC’s consideration of dynamic capital expansion including a potential new arena.
Your support is vital as we build strong partnerships, and connections, necessary to ensure a comprehensive, broad, and inclusive vision for the next century of this District.
First Look: Discover the Future of the Plaza District
Join us on Wednesday, March 27, for an exclusive afternoon of conversation with Ray Washburne, the prospective new owner of Country Club Plaza, who will share his vision for the iconic shopping and entertainment district.
Additionally, we are honored to host native Kansas Citian, Laura Starr, an accomplished landscape architect and an advocate for sustainability, collaboration, and design excellence. Starr, the former Chief of Design for the Central Park Conservancy in New York City, will share her expertise and examples of her work in parks and greenspace. As we consider creative and innovative possibilities for the Brush Creek Greenway and corridor, Starr’s expansive experience in parks, green spaces, urban design, and environmental planning will serve as inspiration.
